Q:

Has anyone had "her Option" cryo ablation procedure done for heavy bleeding, pms, cramps. I had it done four days ago and my doctor said to expect a watery discharge for about 3 weeks. I have extremely heavy bleeding and severe cramps. Is this normal?

This is an update to my original post on 10/10/11. Since my procedure on 10/05/11 everything was what the doctor said basically. Cramps discharge and such. My 1st period came about a week after and was heavy and longer. To date November December and January periods have become subsequently lighter but now last almost 7 days My Dr says in about 6 months my periods should stop. At the rate that they are going I believe he might be right. I'll update in April to let you all know what's happening.

I had mine done June of 2011 and my period never stopped. They did get lighter , but never stopped. So I guess it didn't really work for me, I was hoping never to have it again

I had the Her Option Cryoablation done 4 months ago. I had a watery discharge for a month after the procedure was done. The second month I didn't have any bleeding. The last two months I have been bleeding for three weeks out of the month. I have, what I consider, normal flow for two weeks and the third week I have been passing large clots and having to change my tampon frequently. I had the procedure done because I was bleeding heavily for a week. I know that it is supposed to take a few months for the results to appear but I am really afraid that I have made the wrong decision.

I had this done in Sept. of 2010 for all the reasons that you guys are talking about. It was not painful. Just some ibuprofen was all I needed. It seems like every month my periods would get lighter although irregular. The last 3 months there was just a tiny bit of spotting and than this month there was nothing. I am 46 and very happy with the procedure. It saved me from a hysterectomy. I was wondering if anyone knows if you still go through all the normal menapausal symptems after this.

hi susan,
i just wanted to update: this month's period was also lighter than the periods i have been used to for many years. less clots and lighter too. so i am very happy about that. however, i spotted for 3 days before my period came. then i had my period for about for about 4 days. after that i spotted for like 3 more days. then it stopped. i like the fact that it only lasted 4 days. will the spotting stop? it's just annoying when it comes to being intimate. i guess i was hoping i would have no more periods at all, but i admit last month and this month was the best i ever had in many years. now if only i wouldnt spot for days!

I had Her Option two weeks ago. I'm 49, no kids and had very heavy periods with lots of clots. Periods started lasting 2-3 weeks and I was tired all the time. The biopsy and SIS assisted ultrasound were actually more painful than the actual procedure. The Her Option was not bad. I had Xanax and Oxy and they gave me a shot of Thoradol in the rump and then litocaine in the cervix. I chatted thru the whole thing, then went home and took a nap. That day and the next, I had bad cramps and used a heating pad. Since then, just yellowish and or watery discharge everyday, if I take a bath, I notice little flakes of sloughy material going down the drain, etc. Waiting to get first period to see what that will be like, but prepared to wait several months to assess the result, so if the next one is heavy I won't be surprised. One thing I didn't realize is that you cannot use tampons the first 3 weeks because of risk of infection. Having never been a pad user, I had to go buy all kinds of different stuff, not knowing what I'd like the best. So, no problems here.

I had this procedure done June 2011. For three months I had nothing. I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones. Then Sept 2011 came along and I blead for 13 days. Then it stopped for 7 days. Then it started again and I've been bleeding for 23 more days. The doctor is scheduling me for a hystrectomy.

i had this procedure done early june of 2011. my periods used to be so heavy and full of many many clots. plus i would spot before and after for many days and sometimes even in between that time too. the procedure itself was pretty bad (i was awake) but i managed to get through it. i had some bleeding and watery/mucusy yellow discharge for almost 4 weeks. my period at the end of june was less heavy, but same amt of days. my period in july was a LITTLE lighter, but lasted my usual # of days (8). somewhere in that same month, i had severe cramping. i would equate it to almost the degree of labor pains. i was not able to see my doc because they were closed and i didnt want to go to ER. my august period was SO SO SO heavy with LOTS & LOTS of HUGE clots. i am used to lots of clots coming out esp during the first 3-4 days of my period. but these clots were like 4 in long!!! i finally went to my doc 3 days into that period and he sent me to the ER (mainly because i am very anemic and he didnt want me to become too low). i somehow managed to survive that month's period. my period in september was the lightest i have had in many many yrs. and there was a significant decrease in the amt of clots i had. i am anxious to see how this months period will be. i have had 4 periods since the procedure but i feel like i havent seen a huge difference. very minimal actually.
