I spoke with a women in my neighborhood this morning who lost her 9 year old son (4 years ago) to a rare childhood cancer. It was truly amazing to hear what her son had gone through, as well as her other 2 kids, husband and herself. She was so open to talking about her son's story, that it made me realize how much we *really* don't know our neighbors! My other neighbors and I talk about the weather, or our lawn.

I don't know...it also made me really appreciate my family, how loving she is with her family now, and it brought back memories of my grandmother who died of pancreatic cancer 10 years ago. Losing a grandparent is nothing like losing a child to a terminal illness, but speaking with my neighbor had an effect on me, and I just wanted to share!

Have you talked to your children about the fact that kids, too, can have cancer?
