This is my 2nd cyst it's a subarachniod cyst, the first was smaller and removed this one is a little bigger and in my cranial nerves. I have so many changes in my body like muscle spasms, blurry vision piano in my face and headaches and more. This Dr said those symptoms was not caused by this cyst which I know it does cause I have never had these problems before. Can someone help me understand why I hurt like this or why the Dr thinks this way. Connie

Hello Connie,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us for help. I am sorry to hear that you have developed a second subarachnoid cyst.

For the benefit of all our readers, arachnoid cysts are cerebrospinal fluid-filled sacs that are located between the brain or spinal cord and the arachnoid membrane, one of the three membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.

Typical symptoms of an arachnoid cyst around the brain include headache, nausea and vomiting, seizures, hearing and visual disturbances, vertigo, and difficulties with balance and walking. Arachnoid cysts around the spinal cord compress the spinal cord or nerve roots and cause symptoms such as progressive back and leg pain and tingling or numbness in the legs or arms. Diagnosis usually involves a brain scan or spine scan using diffusion-weighted MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) which helps distinguish fluid-filled arachnoid cysts from other types of cysts.

Connie, I suggest you get the opinion of a neurologist.

Please keep us updated.

I have got a neurosurgeon but he said all of my symptoms have nothing to do with this cyst which I know it does cause I been through this once before but this is worse. How can I explain to him that my symptoms are because of the cyst.
