Hi, I have a question about birth control.
I have been on Gedarel, and today is only my second day in the new cycle. I take my pill at around 12pm every day.
However last night I was sick at 3am, and didn't stop being sick until 7am (exam stress), so I didn't take a catch up pill until 11am - as I wanted to be absolutely sure that I wouldn't throw it up and have to keep taking new ones.
So I took a catch up at 11am, and then my normal one at 12pm. I know you are meant to take your catch up pill as soon after you are sick, but I was sick all night and did not get the chance until this morning.
Thank you!

Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community and I do hope you feel better soon.
You may want to check with your gynecologist. But, if you stop vomiting and can keep fluids down, continue to take your daily birth control pill. Should you choose to be sexually active in the next week, please have your partner wear a condom.

Thank you!
May 10, 2017 - 7:07amI've stopped being sick fortunately, it was just an off day I think.
So although there was an 8 hr time gap between being sick and taking a catch up pill, it shouldn't affect the rest of my cycle if I use contraception for the next 7 days? Just to clarify
