I had the Her Option ablation done on July 28, 2009, to eliminate heavy, heavy, heavy periods. The first following the procedure month was as expected, constant watery sunshine-yellow discharge and spotting (dark brown/red). I did have one surprise chunky bit, but that was the worst (and grossest) of it. Altogther, I'd say the month following was more of an irritation than anything else, no major embarrasing moments or horrible smells or anything like that. The first period following the ablation was only slightly better than prior to the procedure, and I figured it hadn't worked. It was a little better, though, and not the "first-period-after" horror story that so many people have experienced. However, each subsequent period has been markedly improved to the point of only having spotting for a few days (about 3). This month (6 months out), I had one (yes, ONE) cramp, no PMS symptoms, and I have minimal spotting that truly doesn't require more than a panty liner. I have to say that I read the posts of people who had much worse experiences with the ablation procedure before I had it performed, and I was pretty nervous, but I am one of the lucky ones for whom it has worked beautifully. Incidentally,I also had the Essure procedure done a few days before the ablation, and that has also been completely problem-free. Based on my own success, I recommend the Her Option procedure without reservation. It changed my life as my doctor promised. I hope my post is helpful to anyone considering the procedure; I know the posts before mine helped me, and I thank you!
