HERWriter Guide

Hello CherryChocolate

Thank you for writing.

Unprotected genital touching is not safe. Many infections like HPV (that causes genital warts and cervical cancer) and herpes are transferable via skin-to-skin contact, not genital fluids.
There is no way to test a man for HPV and a man who has had 5 other partners will likely have come into contact with HPV at some stage so there may be some risk for you.
Annual pap tests will know whether you are healthy and you can also ask for a HPV test to be done.

Herpes manifests itself with open sores on the genitals, lesions etc . Regular STI testing can let you know where you stand. Other symptoms of STIs include genital itching, redness, a bad smell or discharge.

Many people have no symptoms - others will. It varies from one person to another. You could have an infection for years without symptoms and suddenly get them. Or never have a sign and yet pass the infection to someone else. Testing can vary from blood tests to analysis of vagina/cervical fluids.

My advice is to never do this again without a condom and only with a monogamous partner. Get an STI test done when you next see your gynecologist.

I will not be able to write out a personal write-up for you regarding all the different STD/STIs but that's because we have great resources on our site - you can read all about this topic here and click on the various areas of interest to you - copy and paste here: http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/EmpowHER-Offers-FREE-Resources-for-Women-About-Sexually-Transmitted-Diseases-1166004.htm
