If your child suffers from asthma, you may want to avoid an attack at all costs. No parent wants to have to rush their child to the emergency room in the middle of the night, and especially when it is because of breathing problems.
The following asthma triggers covered in a Lifescript.com article may not immediately come to mind when thinking of things to avoid:
• Play clothes – have your child change their clothes after playing outside to avoid allergies to pollen, grass, and weeds.
• Pets – not only cats and dogs, but yes, even hamsters, parrots, and turtles can set of allergy attacks because their cages trap urine, and sometimes mold.
• Dried Fruit – if produced with sulfur dioxide, it can set off an attack.
• Third-hand smoke – not smoking around your child isn’t enough. Don’t bring it near them on clothes, or hair either.
• Indoor pools – chlorine trapped inside can trigger an attack.
If you or your child exhibits symptoms of wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, or difficult breathing, it is important to seek immediate medical care, especially if he/she is known to have asthma.
