In a study conducted at Brown University, an interesting pattern emerged: both men and women were more likely to experience “psychological distress” if they had more household chores to do and if the distribution was unfair. However, more women are experiencing this psychological distress then men. Do you know why?!
“Men’s lower contributions to household labor” (a nice way to say it, right?!) may explain part of the gender difference in depression, that is, that twice as many women experience depression compared to men.

The latest from Heather Jose:
I can remember almost everything about the doctor's visit that set the ball rolling. My husband, daughter and I went to it on a Tuesday evening. We thought it would be a nice chance to catch up with Meredith, seeing as we hadn’t talked to her in over a year. Meredith went to med school with my brother. That coupled with the fact that she delivered my baby, made us a little more than the typical doctor/patient.

While often associated with veterans – especially those who served in Vietnam, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can actually affect women at a higher rate than men. After trauma, women are twice as likely as men to develop PTSD with approximately 10 percent of women facing PTSD compared to just 4 percent of men.
The Department of Veterans Affairs said that some PTSD symptoms are more common in women than men.

Women can attest to the positive effects of chocolate upon our mood. According to an MIT study,
"snacking on readily digested carbohydrates, such as those in a cookie or bagel, can raise the brain's level of the chemical serotonin, the very same target of modern antidepressant medication."
Including protein with every meal, and small snacks in between, can help lift your mood by increasing your serotonin levels.

I decided to go have the Brac blood test to see if I carry the breast cancer gene(marker). Although I realize that I might not have it now it could always come in the future. My sister was a breast cancer survivor. Nothing is set in stone. Neither of my parents have cancer of any kind and they are into their 80's. None of my grandparents did either. However, I have decided against having the AD test after a lenghty discussion with my own Neurologist.
