It's really cool that there are so many organizations, programs and products that now benefit breast cancer research. What used to be an underfunded, undercovered issue has now become the pink darling of regular people and corporate gifts alike.
Don't forget, though, that one of the easiest (and least expensive) ways to support breast cancer awareness and research is to buy and use the breast cancer stamps at the post office.

October is breast cancer awareness month. There are many sites to look at that support breast cancer. I am suggesting the following the Three:
1. Have you heard of the Army of Women? www.armyofwomen.org. Sign up to join the force that helps find a cure for breast cancer.
2. How about Passionately Pink for the Cure? Become a “Passionista”, www.passionatelypink.org.
October 31, 2008 is the date here at Haralee.Com,to wear the pink.

Every other week I have a date with a leather lazy boy chair. I get there early, just after dropping my kids off at school. Coffee in hand, I make my way into this small cancer center near my home. I've been going here for years and yet, in some ways, I never get used to it.

Have you postponed scheduling your first mammogram because you're anxious about what to expect?
Here's what a mammogram is like. Everyone's is different, but I have had them for 10 years in a variety of locations, so my experiences are probably pretty common.
When you go to your regular doctor, they'll give you a prescription or a lab order for a mammogram that you can take to any of various mammography sites around where you live. Usually, they are located near or in hospitals. You call and make an appointment at the mammography center.

Last weekend I spent the entire time with breast cancer survivors at the Race for the Cure in Portland, OR. We have one of the largest races in the country with over 45,000 participants. The sea of pink was beautiful and the faces of those personally touched by breast cancer were beautiful.
The Race for the Cure is more than a way to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. It is a way to pay tribute to those fighting this deadly disease and for those in the fight to honor those who support them through their journey. But even more, it is about hope.

This week-end was Race for the Cure here in Portland, Oregon. The weather threatened cool temperatures and rain. As it turned out it was a perfect day for a race, cool but not cold, and no rain!
45,000 people came out to run or walk for a single cause, A Cure for Breast Cancer.
45,000 people paid a minimum of $25.00 to show their support.
45,000 people gave up their Sunday morning to show their support.
45,000 people put aside their personal inconveniences to show their support for this single cause.

Fall has arrived in Michigan. The air is crisp and my kids are back in school. This time of year always seems to leave me in a funk. While I long for routine and time to myself in the summer, lately I have just felt, well, out of it. It doesn’t help that my allergies are at there worst in the fall, bringing daily sinus headaches

The poor step child to blood and tissue for diagnosis, urine, may be on a come back in medical diagnosis. No less than the Harvard School of Public Health has written about a study published in a page turner issue of Cancer Epidemiology, titled Biomarkers and Prevention, May 2008.
Let me give you the snapshot of snapshots of the study:
Some day in the hopefully not so distant future, doctors will be able to use a urine test to detect breast cancer.
If you did not hear the Angel Choir you may not be in the Cancer Community or in the medical health fields.
