LONDON - Some doctors have long suspected that if the plaque that builds up in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease could be removed, they could be saved. But a new vaccine that did just that suggests the theory is wrong.

Alzheimer's Drug Trial Promise

As is always the case it seems with the news, once you find one story, you'll find another that seems to offer different information. Out of the BBC today, some scientists are testing the effects of a hayfever drug on Alzheimer's.

According to the article the drug "significantly improves" symptoms in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, research suggests."

Lost Family Members to Alzheimer's

My husband recently lost a favorite uncle to Alzheimer's, but his condition developed rapidly and he was gone so quickly. My daughter's Godmother lost her mother to the disease, but hers was a heart-breaking battle over several years. Because she lived nearby, and our families are very close, it was hard for us to witness her deterioration.
