Fightling insomnia: Heading to the Beauty Salon to take a nap

Since my insomnia is raging at the moment, it was timely that I ran across a story about women and insomnia.

Apparently I don't walk alone. 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders and an additional 20 million suffer occasional problems.

Nap pods are a relatively new thing. These are pods to lay in (claustrophobic persons take note: they closely resemble an MRI machine), with vibrations and music, and cost about a dollar a minute to take a nap - safely cocooned in a salon near you!

While it may seem silly to pay for something you can do at home for no cost at all, some people think it's money well-spent.

Napping at home may be impossible. Small children, pets, deliveries, a spouse working from a home office...households are busy (and noisy) places. And catching forty winks at work may well lead to disciplinary measures or worse. Even napping in a car at lunch time can be hot and uncomfortable.

For some, insomnia is a lifelong condition that diet, yoga or sleeping pills cannot help, for whatever reason. So going to a salon that offers a nap pod, is helping people to get through their day. Many have said that a short nap in these pods during the day has made a difference. A power-nap, indeed.

Would you pay to sleep? Is the idea outlandish or fairly standard in a world where we spend $2 for 16 oz of water? Have you used a sleep pod? How do you cope with insomnia?
