I have recently lost a good friend due to prescription drug abuse. She was age 40, she stood 5 foot 10 and weighed 70 pounds. Yes, I said 70 pounds. Her drug of choice was pain medication. She hardly ate and drank beer with her pills.
In 2006, 16.2 million Americans age 12 and older had taken a prescription pain reliever, tranquilizer, stimulant, or sedative for nonmedical purposes at least once in the year prior to being surveyed according to www.drugabuse.org.

I have been reading about the (possible claimed) benefits of "fasting" for one or two days with a "cleansing cocktail" of water, lemon juice, honey, minerals and aloe vera juice. I have always believed that the body can naturally heal itself, but I have become curious enough to consider a day of cleansing. I'm wondering---have any of you tried a similar cleansing cocktail, and how did it work for you?

Being from the great State of Ohio, it is time to start to bundle up and get ready for the freezing winter months. During these cold months, many people decide to spend most of their time inside and do not get outside enough to maintain their workouts.
I am fortunate to have a workout room that offers free weights, a weight machine plus I also have a treadmill. So since the dreadful time of the year is approaching fast, I wanted to share some information on how to keep physically fit even inside the home.

The first few years of becoming a parent can be the best years, but it can also be the most trying. This is the point where the strength of the relationship between the married couple will be tested. Becoming a parent is not easy, especially if a couple did not prepare for it. Others carefully plan for it and have little difficulty with starting a family. The first three years will be the most demanding of all the stages in many ways; however, some parents will always remember those years as the best years.

Homelessness isn't easy to think about. Many homeless are considered lazy, unmotivated people who just don't try hard enough.
What is more accurate is that many homeless people are untreated mentally ill persons who are often discharged from treatment facilities before they are ready or capable to care for themselves. Others are addicts, jobless or victims of domestic violence.
A growing population amount the homeless are homeless women. There is something especially disconcerting about homeless women because so many nowadays have their children with them.

Investing for the Times of Your Life
Time and Risk Tolerance
After 20 years in the financial services industry, I am so proud of the progress we women have made in gaining control over our financial destiny. During these tumultuous times, stressing over money and deciding what to do with savings is enough to make anyone cave in to stress. It's precisely at times like this that I always remind myself and my clients to go back to basics. Here are some tips I hope will help you all.

I'm not the kind of animal rights activist who will throw something horrible on a fur coat (although I might throw a look) or leather jacket. People wear animal products all the time, although I do have a distinct dislike for fur because the animals are not used for food - they are simply bred for something unnecessary to wear - all in the name of couture, and their deaths are quite brutal.
