Dr. Shalizeh Shokooh: Women should know that if they have diabetes, they should be treated as if they already have heart disease and that goes for men as well. Once a person has diabetes, the risk factor, the risk of heart disease tremendously increases.
So once one knows that there is diabetes and that it has to be treated then they have to be really indulgent regarding their cholesterol and they cannot, they should not be smoking. They should have their blood pressure under control because all these -- hand-in-hand --increase their risk.
