What is Hashimoto's disease?

That's the question EmpowHer asked Dr. Theodore Friedman, the Chief of Endocrinology at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Sciences, a UCLA affiliate and the co-author of the Everything Health Guide to Thyroid Disease.

Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition where the body makes anti-bodies that attack it's own thyroid gland.
