A Healthier Me! My Weight Loss After Menopause

Being a nurse, I have always known that excess weight is not healthy. It leads to cardiac, diabetic, orthopedic, vascular and many other system problems. However for years I was grossly overweight.

I gained weight when I was pregnant with my last child (she is now 27) and I yo-yo dieted for many years, never leading to any success. Lose a few...gain alot!

I never really took it seriously enough to do anything about it. My husband married me when I was heavy and that was enough reason not to work on losing the weight. "He loves me just like I am." Although true in the love department, it wasn't helping me in the health department.

I LOVE TO EAT!!! I love food!!!

However, when I had to buy size 22 jeans, I said "That's enough!" I made up my mind that I wanted the FAT off!!! My blood pressure needed help too. I was having to take daily medicine to keep the 210/110 pressure under control. I was a walking time bomb. I knew that it was just a matter of time before the high blood pressure, the high cholesterol, and the excess weight would trigger a heart attack. And I was sick and tired of being FAT!

What I needed was to learn to eat healthy but also good tasting. I knew that Weight Watchers worked. It was difficult walking into the first meeting knowing that my Southern fried chicken and Cheesecake days were over.

But you know what? I learned that I could eat great tasting foods and still lose weight. I learned to substitute healthy ingredients for the killers and still ate GREAT!!!

The support from the meetings and the constant encouragement form other members kept me on track.

I highly recommend Weight Watchers for anyone who wants to become a healthier person. (and skinnier. too.)

Oh, by the way, I no longer take blood pressure medicine (my last reading was 114/62), my cholesterol was 160, my HDL was 63 and LDL was 70 and Triglycerides were 113 (great numbers) and I have lost over 60 pounds.

Take a look at the pic below to see what Weight Watchers (and some exercise) can do for you! (hey, I just bought a size 8 jeans!!)

Well done

Congratulations on your weight loss and your newfound health! In addition to the food plan, what type of exercises did you do to fit into those Size 8 jeans? We all want to know.

Congratulations on your menopause weight loss success

I'm still battling my menopause weight. It's a slow and frustrating journey, and I'm a distance runner.

What exercises were you able to do to control the belly bulge and deal with the loose skin after the weight loss?

60 puonds-Amazing!

I went back to Weight Watchers several weeks ago and did very well my first week, had a family wedding at my house and have not been on my program. Your post has motivated me to go back to the meetings, get my daily log out and get back on the WW horse again.
