Advertising Policy

The purpose of this policy is to explain our guidelines for advertising and promotions on our website (the "Site"). 1. In General The following guidelines govern various aspects of advertising on the Site, including banner, badge, contextual advertising, sponsored content, events and promotions. The guidelines cover issues such as acceptance of advertisements and promotions, the manner of display on the Site, and their removal. We train sole and absolute discretion with respect to interpretation and enforcement of this policy and all other issues associated with advertising on the Site. 2. No Endorsement We have sole discretion in determining the types of advertising that will be accepted and displayed on the Site. Under no circumstances should our acceptance of any advertisement be considered an endorsement of either the product(s) and/or service(s) advertised or the company that manufactures, distributes, or promotes such product(s) or service(s). 3. Excluded Advertising As a general rule, we will not accept advertising that, in our opinion, is not factually accurate and in good taste, or that relates to illegal or objectionable products or services. Advertising must not contain fraudulent, deceptive, or offensive material, including material that misrepresents, ridicules, or attacks an individual or group on the basis of age, color, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or handicap. In general, we do not accept advertising related to any of the following: alcohol, firearms, ammunition, fireworks, gambling, pornography, tobacco, or the simulation of news or an emergency. We reserve the right to reject, cancel, or remove at any time any advertising from the Site for any reason and will provide prompt notice and explanation to the advertiser upon rejection, cancellation, or removal of any advertising. We also reserve the right to determine the appropriate placement of advertising on the Site. 4. Labeling of Advertising We strive to recognize and maintain a distinct separation between advertising content and editorial and decision-making content. Our policy is that any advertising must be clearly and unambiguously labeled as such and must clearly identify the advertiser, and we will not run any advertising on the Site that is not so identified. Clicking on an advertisement will link you to an advertiser's site or to relevant information on the product or service advertised. 5. Search Results; Search Engines We retain the right to determine the way in which any and all search results for specific information by keyword or topic are displayed on the Site. Our search results are not influenced based on monetary incentives provided by advertisers or sponsors. However we do provide our advertisers the ability to purchase advertising (an "Ad Link") that appears in or adjacent to search results based on the information or specific terms being searched; if advertisements or sponsored content results do appear, they will be labeled as such. We may receive payment from third party advertisers in connection with displaying Ad Kinks within or next to advertising results. 6. Responsibility of Advertisers Advertisers are responsible for complying with all applicable domestic and foreign laws, including applicable laws and regulations of regulatory bodies. This includes compliance with FDA guidelines for Direct to Physician (DTP) and Direct to Consumer (DTC) advertising as well as underwritten CME programs that must be labeled in accordance with the guidelines of the Accrediting Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and any other relevant accrediting bodies. While we do not monitor advertisers' compliance with applicable laws and regulations, we reserve the right to review all advertising for compliance with applicable laws and regulations and, if we becomes aware of any breach or potential breach of any applicable law or regulation or of these guidelines, we may remove the Advertising. 7. Changes to Advertising & Promotions Policy We reserve the right, at any time and without notice, to add to, change, update or modify this Advertising & Promotions Policy, simply by posting such change, update or modification on the Site. Any such change, update or modification will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site.
