Dr. Shokooh shares what a diabetic woman should do if she has concerns about her heart health.
Dr. Shokooh:
Women should note that if they have diabetes they should be treated as if they already have heart disease and that goes for men as well. Once a person has diabetes, the risk of heart disease tremendously increases so once one knows that there is diabetes and that it has to be treated then they have to be very diligent regarding their cholesterol. They should not be smoking, they should have their blood pressure under control because all these hand in hand increases their risk.
