I gained weight BEFORE I went on bioidentical hormones, about 15 pounds, despite being active and health conscious. It was the absence of hormones that did it. Of this I have no doubt. There's NO evidence that hormones in the right balance cause weight gain. The key is balance. Which hormones are you taking--hopefully it includes testosterone (assuming your levels are low--mine were nonexistent)? Testosterone helps build muscle...you should see my "guns." But all joking aside, I'd recommend talking to your doc about all three hormones -- progesterone, estradiol, and testosterone. It takes a little tweaking but it's worth it. Pink E.

I gained the weight before I went on the bioidenticals too and my levels were also nonexitent! I'm on prometrium and estrogen. I will ask about the testosterone when I talk to my doctor next week. Thanks so much!!! I finally feel like I've found someone who can relate to what I am talking about. Everything you read tells you to eat better and excercise more -- I've doubled my excerise and count calories more now than ever before. Did you finally lose the 15 pounds? I guess once my hormones are level, I too will start to lose the weight.
