I agree Kristin!

I can't imagine why anyone would say something this foolish.

While reading the only thing that made sense was he didn't know what autism was.

Can that be?

Is it possible he doesn't know?

I find that very hard to believe. So what was he doing? Any thoughts?

You know, Todd, I didn't even think of that. I guess I just assume that everyone on the planet knows what Autism is.

I wonder ... does anyone else think maybe that could be the case? That he just simply needs to be educated??

I listen to a lot of conservative talk radio. I listen to a lot of liberal talk radio. I'm a talk radio junkie. I listen to people who most people say they hate; if people are talking to national audiences, I want to hear what they are saying.

Sometimes I find myself nodding in agreement, other times I'm yelling at the radio in disagreement. But this is how I learn. If I agreed with everyone I listened to, it'd be terribly monotonous.

But Michael Savage is my one exception and always has been. His expression of hate and ignorance flabbergasts me. One of my friends asked me once how on earth I listen to [insert popular yet much hated talk show host here] and I told her I can listen to anyone - except Michael Savage.

Why does he do what he does? He panders to a small-to-medium sized group who are very vocal. He gets high ratings because of his controversial views and he gets publicity for his outrageous, unfounded claims.

And this all means money. And in the end, that's what counts. Especially to an attention-seeking loud mouth like him.

So do you think he's crossed over the threshold for intolerable ignorance and has finally gotten himself fired??

"My comments about autism were meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community's attempt to label too many children or adults as "autistic."

Just as some drug companies have overdiagnosed "ADD" and "ADHD" to peddle dangerous speed-like drugs to children as young as 4 years of age, this cartel of doctors and drug companies is now creating a national panic by overdiagnosing "autism, for which there is no definitive medical diagnosis!

Many children are being victimized by being diagnosed with an "illness" which may not exist, in all cases. Just a few weeks ago doctors recommended dangerous anti-cholesterol drugs for children as young as 2 years of age! Without any scientific studies on the possible dangers of such drugs on children, corrupt doctors made this controversial, unscientific recommendation.

Increasingly, our children are being used as profit centers by a greedy, corrupt medical/pharmaceutical establishment. As the brother of a severely disabled person who suffered and died in a New York "snake-pit" of a "mental hospital," I know first-hand what true disability is.

To permit greedy doctors to include children in medical categories which may not be appropriate is a crime against that child and their family. Let the truly autistic be treated. Let the falsely diagnosed be free.

Michael Savage"

See? Like Star Trek heroes, he is "boldly" going where none of us have gone. He is doing us a favor. Educating us because he's all about the kids. Bless him - our savior and protector. Opening our ignorant eyes while saving our offspring.

(I need a bib as I'm awash in my own sarcasm)

:)

As someone who IS autistic, I'd like him to kiss my bratty 4$$! If he can't understand that neurological variations are real, maybe he's the moron here!

ToddHartley

Should he be fired for these comments?

Remember the Don Imus controversy? Unfortunately, he's back on the air. Just as unfortunately is the fact that our Constitutional right to freedom of speech can be taken to such idiotic extremes by journalists.

Imus was fired, then reinstated. I'm afraid his case set the precedence and Savage may very well suffer a similar slap on the wrist for his ignorance.

"What a country!" as the comedian, Yakov Smirnoff, used to say in his routines.
