Dr. Jay Harness: The power of the internet and the knowledge that is out there patients walk in today better prepared than they have ever been to talk about their cancer. With that knowledge they know about the staging systems. Stage 0 is the earliest kind of in-situ cancer although way up to stage 4 where the cancer has gone elsewhere in the body. So, one of the questions asked commonly, “Doctor what stage is my cancer?” That is part of the empowerment we want patients to have. We want them to be able to talk comfortably in the language that we use. But they also want to know, “Where am I right now?” and potentially “Where am I going?” and “What is the stage of my cancer?”
