The #1 sign of perimenopause is irregular periods. Menopause is 12 months without a period and can happen anytime after age 40 (average is 51). This is very typical, and as long as you know you are not pregnant it is not worrisome. Perimenopause can have other symptoms too, but if you are otherwise doing well/feeling well there is no need feel urgent about addressing this. Keep track of your periods. 90% of women will have 4-8 years of menstrual cycle irregularity before they become menopausal. Time will tell!

Hi Anon,
Welcome to EmpowHER. Pre-menopause symptoms can start as early as in your 30's. Some of the symptoms can be irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats and many other. You need to see your OBGYN and through blood work, he will be able to check your hormone levels.
Best,
Daisy
