Cervical cancer is the only cancer with a single-known cause – the human papillomavirus (HPV). And now there is a test to detect it: the HPV test. The Pap alone is not foolproof – it can miss up to half the time! Have you had an HPV test with your annual Pap test? I recently found out that the Pap test misses women with precancerous cells 15-50% of the time. Combining the HPV Test with the Pap for women over 30 increases accuracy to nearly 100%. Here's a quick clip about the test. How many teenagers in the United States are infected with a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)? A recent study published in the New York Times announced the following findings: Almost 50% of African-American teenage women were infected with an STD (sexually transmitted disease), compared to approximately 20% of white teenage women.
