Breast Cancer Gene Tests for Girls: Too Soon?

For Ellyn Davidson, there was only one thing scarier than being diagnosed with breast cancer. It was the prospect that her 8-year-old daughter would one day receive the very same devastating news.

"At the time of my diagnosis, she definitely was one of my first thoughts, but it never occurred to me that I could be carrying the mutated BRCA gene," she recalls.

Jessica Queller's Extreme Preventive Measures Against Breast Cancer

When found positive for the breast cancer gene, BRCA, Jessica Queller elected double prophylactic mastectomy to reduce her risk of breast cancer down to about 3%. Her sister, who also tested positive for the gene, followed suit. Their hopes are that this procedure will improve her future plans to raising her own family.
