Does Muscle Weigh More than Fat?

What is heavier: a ton of feathers, or a ton of bricks?

They're both a ton, so they're both the same weight. Well, a pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. It's logical. A personal trainer dispels the gym myth about replacing lost fat with muscle and answers the question I hear so often as a marathon/half marathon walking coach:

Why Doesn’t Exercise Always Affect Body Weight?

Running is Running My Life: When a Good Thing Becomes Too Much

There, I admit it: running is running my life. I run to live, and I sometimes feel as though I live to run. I'll never be a seeded or elite runner, but, that's not why I run. I run to keep my joints healthy, try to keep my weight under control, deal with high cholesterol and heart health. I wasn't always a runner; I started late in life, but I love my endorphins! I'm passionate about this sport; I can't stop talking about it; I have my own running team!

Men and women with early-stage Alzheimer's disease who were more physically fit also had larger brains compared to their counterparts in less stellar shape.

The findings, though preliminary, may indicate that staying physically fit could slow the brain atrophy (shrinkage) associated with Alzheimer's disease. Or they may indicate that some common underlying process affects both brain atrophy and cardiorespiratory fitness.
