Nebraska has changed it's Safe Haven Law, known as LB157, to allow parents and caregivers to legally give up their older children and teenagers, not just newborns and babies.
And parents are taking the state up on it's offer.
Just this weekend, two separate cases saw a teen and preteen dropped off at two Nebraska hospitals. Neither seemed to show signs of abuse and neither seemed in imminent danger - a necessary requirement, according to lawmakers.

Wow! This sounds great...if I only had more discretionary money to spend...
There are some companies cropping up that claim to be "full service baby planning for moms-to be", and they do everything from researching to baby-proofing to helping decorate the nursery: anything that a pregnant woman might need a hand with to prepare for her baby. They even help with gift registries, etiquette for baby showers, and can help with doctor referrals.

I'm pretty shocked by this, since birth control is so highly effective. I suppose I simply assume that if you don't want to get pregnant, you'll make sure to take birth control each and every time! Accidental pregnancies can happen - but most are highly preventable.

12% of all our babies will be born prematurely!
Everyone has always known someone who had a preemie (a baby born prior to 37 weeks in the womb) but at this rate, we all know a lot of someones! The Center for Disease Control studied 7 million babies over a decade, in an effort to understand why so many babies are born prematurely and any adverse affects they may experience.
Let's not forget that in most cases a preemie baby is not anyone's fault and in most instances there is nothing that could be done!
