Vulvodynia, Vulvitis and Vulvovaginitis Symptoms and Resources

In addition to the above great resources, MedlinePlus (www.medlineplus.gov) and ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, www.acog.org) have different definitions (and symptoms) for many various vulvar conditions; these are just a few of them below.

Vulvovaginitis symptoms:
* Irritation and itching of the genital area
* Inflammation (irritation, redness, and swelling) of the labia majora, labia minora, or perineal area
* Vaginal discharge
* Foul vaginal odor
* Discomfort or burning when urinating

Vulvitis symptoms:
* Redness and swelling of the vulvar skin
* Burning or itching of the vulvar skin
* Thickening of the vulvar skin
* Possible small cracks in the vulvar skin
* Possible vaginal discharge

According to the ACOG, women with vulvodynia may have some of these feelings around vulva:
* Burning
* Stinging
* Rawness
* Itching
* Aching
* Soreness
* Throbbing
* Swelling
