Probiotics -- Are they needed? Every day?

I hear and see so many things about different pro-biotics these days. There are yogurt drinks and regular yogurt that advertise different types of pro-biotics in addition to their usual "live yogurt culture" attributes.

I also see probiotic supplements meant to help digestive health sold on the aisles of a health food store.

Is this more marketing than anything? Or do we have an actual need for more pro-biotic substances than we're getting in our bodies through regular nutrition? And if so, is it a daily need?

I just watched Dr. Daenell's video on empowher
http://empowher.com/share/weight-managem...

about what women can do about their unwanted weight. She mentioned three supplements, one was CoQ10. the others I could not understand (my slow computer connection, no doubt). How can I access the trascript for this video?

My 6month old son has several "moles"???

My son has several tiny "mole-like" things on his body. There is no consistency. He has 2 on his left leg, one on his back, one on his tummy and a new tinier one under his right eyebrow. They are hard to see, but I KNOW they are there. His pedi referred him to a dermatologist in 2 weeks but I am going crazy looking up info. Nothing seems to fit. They are small & flesh colored & you can barely see them unless I point them out to you.

BY THE WAY...I am happy to have found such an informative website!

I'm not sure what the difference is (if any), but have a burning sensation in my chest and throat. What over the counter medicines actually work, and when should I see a doctor?

i was wondering if anyone has tried the DIM supplement for premenopausal symptoms and if so how has it worked?

iam STILL perimenopausal. (It seems like years for me and still i am not menopausal!) I was listening to a dr on this website that was talking about DIM for estrogen regulation and was wondering if any of you on this site have tried it and how did it help or not help. I am having a hard time with concentration also and would like some feedback from other women as to how they are experiencing this condition and what if anything they are doing about it! I sometimes think my brain is just skipping out on me .... anyone out there that can relate to this?
thanks cindy

Do you keep a food journal?

Do you keep a food journal? If so, what do you enter and do you keep track of calories as well? Carbs?

I'm interested in knowing what other people do in their food journals, whether they are trying to lose weight or are just maintaining a diary for good health reasons.

I know that so many experts and weight loss programs believe food journaling is one of the keys to success, and it makes me wonder why it makes such a difference.

When is the right time to intervene in fighting?

I have a habit of letting my children sort out their differences as much as possible but there are times I have to break up fights over toys or games. I dont like to do it much as I feel like my children might think I'm taking sides or interfering, when they are capable of working it out themselves.

When do you intervene? How hands off do we have to be in case we're considered 'helicopter parents' - lord knows, those are dirty words in parenting anymore!!

What's the main difference between vitamin supplements?

I know that today, most doctors and nutritionists recommend a multi-vitamin to make sure we get all the nutrients daily that we may not get from our food.

Here's my question. There seems to be two different kinds of "daily" vitamin supplement products:

The most common is the single vitamin pill, which includes a long list of vitamins and are often marketed as being "complete," or as specifically designed for stress, for men or women, or for different life stages. They probably cost $8-$12 a month.

Which one should I be drinking: soy milk, rice milk or cow's milk?

I am so confused by all of the "milk" choices, and am not sure which one is the healthiest? I do not have any allergies or intolerances to dairy or soy. All three of these items (rice milk, soy milk and cow's milk) can be bought organic, low-fat, with no added preservatives or growth hormones (for cows), etc.

Are they all the same in calories, sodium, vitamins, minerals, etc? Are they all equally good for my skin and bones and overall health?
