I found this pdf today about plastic food storage containers and bottles to avoid. The whole thing is kinda scary. Please take a look and let me know what you think: http://www.checnet.org/healtheHouse/pdf/...

Plastic storage and bottles

Thank you for bringing this important topic to our attention. Think this is an interesting document as concerns about plastics resurfaced a few weeks ago when Canadian health officials announced they planned to limit use of bisphenol A, a chemical used in some baby bottles. Apparently, a draft report from Health Canada found the chemical to be potentially dangerous to infants and the environment. While I think the information in the document may have been helpful at one time, it looks like it's dated March/April 2001, and as with life, a lot can change in that time.

One good source of current info might be the the U.S. National Toxicology Program's Web site which offers specific reports regarding polycarbonate plastics and bisphenol A. One such nugget is this draft document dated April 14, 2008 This 69-page report is laced with scientific terminology and tackles the nitty-gritty of plastics intake in humans, but is by no means a final review. From what I've read, it looks like further testing may be needed and the topic will be explored more this summer. It may make for interesting reading for those passionate about the issue.

To stay supersafe, you may also want to make a habit of monitoring the Consumer Product Safety Commissions Web site for any possible recalls related to some of those products.

Have you had any issues with those products?
